In a way, yes! However, it’s not completely categorized as a coolant. So, what is antifreeze used for? What Purpose Is Antifreeze Used For?

Antifreeze is located and stored within your radiator and directly connected by a reservoir in the engine bay. Using this connection, the antifreeze circulates throughout your engine through the water pump. The water pump helps the combustion-generated heat move away from the engine. The now-hot coolant gets circulated back to the radiator to be cooled by the air to remove any excess heat.

Why Is Antifreeze Important?

Antifreeze is crucial to your short trips to Monticello, MN and your long commutes to Coon Rapids, MN. It’s created to prevent overheating and ensure your coolant doesn’t freeze in below-zero temperatures; which is vital to your winter car kit.
