How to Find EV Charging Stations Near You

Jeep Charging Station

An electric vehicle, or EV, is a great way to get around Monticello or Anoka, even if just to be free of gas prices. All the other ancillary benefits of these cutting edge vehicles just make them an even better option. Most EV owners charge them at home with Level 2 garage chargers, but there are a rapidly increasing number of public EV charging stations across the country for both road tripping and daily charging needs. The map above shows exactly where your nearest EV charging stations are located.

From Ramsey to Coon Rapids and beyond, electric vehicle charging stations are popping up fast as EVs get more popular. If you’ve ever wanted to know where electric car charging stations are on the go, there are a range of apps for that. ChargeHub, Plugshare, and Chargemap are three great options, for example. If you have any questions about EV charging stations near you, feel free to get in touch with us here at Cornerstone Auto! We offer a wide range of EVs for sale through multiple brands and locations around Big Lake and beyond.

How to Choose an EV Charging Station Location

There are three types of EV chargers, ranging from an everyday wall outlet to the state-of-the-art Level 3 charging stations. They offer wildly different charging rates, so it’s best to know what you’re getting into with each:

  • Level 1 Charging is the most basic type of charger, as this is just a normal wall outlet paired with the cable that comes with most EVs. Called “trickle charging” by many EV drivers, a full charge using this method is certainly possible, but it can take days. This is worthwhile if no other options are available, or if you’re just topping off.
  • Level 2 Charging is what many EV owners have installed in their garage, and these purpose-built, yet relatively low cost systems can provide a full charge to EVs of various types in a few hours, or overnight at the slowest rate. There are public Level 2 chargers, generally set up at destinations like malls, stores, and movie theaters. It should be noted that while a full charge at a Level 2 station can take hours, an additional 50 miles or so can be much less time than that.
  • Level 3 DC Fast Charging stations are designed for road tripping, and they are the closest current equivalent to how gas stations work. At one of these stations, many EVs can get a full charge in less than an hour, and many can have a couple hundred miles of range added in as little as 20 minutes.
